Hi, I'm Hatch 🐣

I'll calculate your fabric size in inches, needle size, and number of floss strands so you're all set before you get started ✨

stitches × stitches
stitches per inch
threads (Aida = 1, linen = 2)
inches each side
inches each side
Border = space between stitching and frame edge. Finishing = extra for mounting or sewing.

Let's break it down:

Design Size

This is the size of your pattern in stitches (not inches). You'll usually see on your chart pattern something like: 150w × 200h
🐣 Translation: how many tiny X's you're about to hatch.

Fabric Count

Fabric count tells you how many stitches fit into one inch. Aida is measured in stitchable squares and 14 count Aida has 14 stitches per inch. Linen is measured in threads and 28 count linen has 28 threads per inch.

Threads Per Stitch

This is how your stitches sit on the fabric. On Aida, each stitch covers 1 square, (enter 1). On linen or evenweave, stitches are typically worked over 2 threads, (enter 2).
✨ Fun fact: 28 count linen stitched over 2 threads = same stitch size as 14 count Aida
🐥 Same size stitches, fancier vibes. More roost boost!

Border Allowance

Extra fabric between your stitching and the frame edge. We recommend 2–3 inches on each side.

Finishing Allowance

This is extra fabric for framing, lacing, or sewing. A good rule: 2 inches per side
🐣 future-you will be doing a happy little peep about this!

What Happens Next

Once you enter everything, I'll calculate or dare I cherp, "peckulate" for you 🐤
• Your finished design size in inches
• How much fabric you need (including allowances)
• Suggest a needle size and number of floss strands

🐥 Chick Tip

Aida keeps things simple and structured. Linen adds texture and a more heirloom feel.
